When to visit

The best time to visit campus is during the academic year. You can arrange to attend classes, chat with people you meet over a tasty meal in Commons, meet with faculty members and coaches, or even spend the night hosted by a Bates student. Campus tours are available throughout the year.

Interviews: on campus and off

We encourage you to have an interview with someone from the Admissions Office. The interview is our chance to meet you personally and hear about your background and concerns. In turn, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions about your interests and about the application process. On-campus interviews take place weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between June 15 and November 15.

Of course, not all applicants can visit campus for an interview. In most parts of the U.S. (and in many other countries), we can arrange for an interview with an alumni representative. Please remember: If you choose not to interview, you may be placing yourself at a disadvantage.

Student-led tours

Student-guided tours are available throughout the year. If you would like to meet with athletics coaches, faculty members or directors of activities such as debate, music, theater or dance, the Admissions Office is happy to help you make arrangements. Or you may take the self-guided campus tour.
